DEVA Canoe Club run a Thursday evening Club Night throughout the Summer from mid April until mid September, light permitting, between 6 and 9 pm.  The sessions are based at The Riverside Centre, Lower Park Road, Queen’s Park, Chester and take place on the River Dee.

The Club wishes to extend an invitation to new paddlers to come and join in a few sessions as ‘guests’, before deciding whether to join the Club. This will give you the opportunity to sample ‘real’ canoeing, get free coaching, get advice on boats and equipment, and meet a lot of friendly people who are interested in canoeing.

The Club has some boats and equipment that it is prepared to let guests use in order to get started in the sport. Obviously, we will need to know who will be attending on any given Thursday so that we can arrange coaches and equipment.  There will be a charge per session of £3 for the use of the Centre and £2 for use of club equipment.

Equipment and Clothing

Boats, Paddles, Buoyancy Aids, Spray Decks and Helmets can be provided by the club, although we encourage people to bring their own if they have them.

You will require a Warm Top, Waterproof / Windproof Outer Layer, Trousers (not jeans!), Waterproof Over Trousers or a Wet/Dry Suit, Wet Suit Boots or Old Trainers.  You will also need a towel and a full change of clothing for afterwards.
